The One With Peeps and Peek-A-Boo

Easter happened and SUN happened! Well, ish... Good Friday was both good in the theological sense and good in the weather sense. One thing I love about Canadians is that they are as obsessed with the weather as the Brits - this must be why we get along so well! Anyway, Good Friday to Lydia and me first to Parliament, second to the LCBO and thirdly to the end of Laurier Avenue. And, as it turns out, the end of Laurier Avenue is the elusive Strathcona Park. So despite the park still being covered in ice and snow the consistency of quick sand, Lydia and I picnicked our way to the swings. It takes dedication to relive our childhoods.
Strathcona Park
As Saturday's sky mimicked the dourness of a dead Jesus, we went to the inside of Parliament. We saw the House of Commons and the House of Lords and Lydia and I discovered that we actually know more about Canadian politics than Canadians do. We also trekked up to the Peace Tower and saw Ottawa in all its...glory... Ottawa certainly does have it's gorgeous moments but, y'know, it also has architecture by a colour blind boringly pragmatic dude.
When I go to Parliament...
And no North American Easter is complete without peeps. What are peeps I hear you ask? A calorific, pancreas-bating nightmare is my reply. But they are pink and bunny shaped and covered in edible glitter.
That sound you hear is pancreas weeping.
On a food related theme, Lydia had her first poutine. She wasn't a fan.
Eurgh.
The weekend rounded off beautifully with hours spent putting the world to rights with my landlord and playing with his nine month old baby. Mega joy.
